    Wondered if any of you lovely people could id this plant for me please? It's appeared next to my fence and I am unsure what it is?

    It looks very similar to a Geranium Pratense (Cranesbill) I have which has red stems. I am very fond of the ones I have as they flower darkish purple quite early in the season and again in the Autumn. It does not like being moved unless very small.It has an orange coloured sort of tap root.
    Maybe silver surfer will be along to tell you for certain. She is premier division on identification. I'm bottom of division 3 in comparison

        Good point Silu, leaves look too glossy though, i'd go for a cultivated variety of it :)

            It was new to me until we moved North and joined a Wild Flower id group.
            I am OK ish on garden plants but some what weak on our native wild flowers.
            The shiny leaves make it an easy one to remember.
