There's not much to go on, I'm afraid, but bet someone will be able to pin it down! It's a shrub or woody perennial, about 1m / 3ft high. No flowers. Whatever it is, it's suffering a leaf-miner attack. IMG-20170608-WA0000.jpg TIA

An update, but still no flowers! I've acquired a bit of whatever it is. Definitely labiatae/lamiacae family. Square, very slightly hairy stems. The leaves don't come straight off the stems, though. Petioles with three or (now I've discovered) 5 leaflets. Looking at it, you'd say Agastache or even Elder, but no odour of either. @longk?? At least now it's planted in good soil, I should get flowers before autumn......

A shot in the dark but could it be one of the Lantana or Verbena species?

I think the leaves are too thin and soft to be Lantana, longk. At least the ones I know of :) Will dig around the internet for those two, though. Thanks!
I've never come across such a mystery!

The mystery plant turned out to be Bidens tripartita. A weed or a wildflower depending on your point of view;) As I've got too many 'wildflowers' already, it's gone to that great compost heap in the sky......:psnp:
