Hi Shortie and welcome to GC.

It could be Pulmonaria (Longwort). Do the flowers change colour ... pink/blue/purple? I ha\d it some 20 years ago in Bucks and it just looks familiar .. but I could be wrong and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along and identify it for you.

I'm wondering if it might be Nicandra physaloides, the Shoo-fly plant. Be interesting to see what the flowers are like.

Sorry Ziggy, don't think it's a Campanula, just ID'd one today .. but I can be wrong often as I left the UK many years ago ..... still think it looks like a Pulmonaria ... can't tell unless we know if it changes colours .... :flag:

Boghopper, never got my Shoo-fly plant going here and I lived in the South for 14 years .. so ... I can't say ...

Boghopper - well done - I think you are right. The leaf is right and the giveaway might be if, on close inspection, they are covered in little purple dots. Which I think I can see in the photograph.

I have some Nicandra growing, but the flower bracts (the coverings of the young flowers) are all dark purple. So too are all the stems, though the underside of some stems are green.

Is there any purple on yours, shortie? Or have you got a slightly different variety?
