I'D these eggs please

Does anyone know what these eggs are, I know they're not slug eggs coz they're round aren't they?

 

Bit small for maggots, they're only about 5-6mm long

Vine weevil larvae - feed them to your chickens if you have any otherwise feed them to your Robins ...Blackbirds....etc ....they will destroy your plants as they feed on the roots all over winter ... then hatch into a Beetle who will lay 1000's and 1000's of eggs again ....interestingly the beetles are only female so do the math .......get rid ASAP Sonya

@Silver surfer, I agree, i thought that initially- but i saw images on a search of younger larvae so thought they might be - in your experience......do you have any idea of what else they could be? i did google images but still never found an alternative I have had a problem with Vine weevil this year for the first time- i have found the beetles so im pretty certain that i've despatched the right larvae-but would hate to find that i might in the future destroy something beneficial to the garden

 

Thanks @BeeHappy and @Silver surfer but I've never seen vine weevil in the garden. Been looking online all day for an ID but not getting anywhere They are very small about 5mm in length and they are very smooth looking and the one at the front looks like it's turning into something else so might leave them for a few days, may have more of an idea then!

Well they look like vine weevil larva to me.

But I'd be interested to know if they were dug up from the roots of a plant or just lying on the surface as in the picture.

 

I have a large trough that I have dahlias in, I've been hacking them down... went a bit ott with the seeds and they were just there as you see them in the pic

 

Yeah not quite sure what you mean by ott with the SEEDS?

But were the bugs at soil level or on the upper parts of the plants?
ie. did they drop off from the plant?

 

I've zoomed in a little.

 

They were just on the edge of the trough when I cut back the plants.

 

@Sonya what a stunning and healthy looking planter of plants -no wonder you were surprised to see those grubs ....they don't appear to have caused any obvious damage if thats how the planter looked shortly before you found them now im even more confused
