I have a contorted hazel in a pot that looks fab, although it doesn't flower in summer. But it does have lovely green leaves, held on said contorted branches which provide interest, looks good in winter with the frost on it and is slow growing.

I can't remember if Ceanothus is evergreen or not, but the flowers it has now are beautiful.

i will stick a photo up of the area tomorrow :) this gardening bug is hard to get out of lol

would like something that i can plant and maintain rather than putting something there every year, like bedding plants, would like somethings which are there always and look nice, or even just some evergreens with nice colourful shrubs by it, basically something that is somewhat colourful summer time :)
