Got some medium sized pots with a single hole in bottom. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to secure them from opportunist thieves as they are at the front door step? Especially any that don't look really ugly!

Need to get something heavy in the bottom to put them off!

If you don't intend on ever moving them, how about putting a great big screw in the ground from the inside of the pot. A big washer is sometimes required to ensure the screw does not go through the hole in the bottom of the pot.

    Good Luck!

You could permanently mark your house number and postcode to the back of the pot too?

If you use big enough ones they wont dissapear, and I always think one big pot is better than two or three smallish ones.

Put a short length of chain with a bar on one end put it though the hole in the pot and then secure
It to the wall or concrete It to the ground near the pot(short thick chain )Let It be visible to the Low Life.Just a suggestion this is what I have done with some success. [IMG] Good Luck

I believe you can get some grease type stuff that you can paint on the pot. The stuff I've seen is clear so it shouldn't look too bad. Alternatively move to a nicer area!

Is it a real problem or jus a percieved one? My wife had very similar concerns but our pots have stayed exactly where I put them. We have seven in the front garden. SOmetimes you just have to take a chance

Thanks for all the ideas. One of our neighbours has had some stolen and everyone else hasn't bothered. It's such a shame that a few people can spoil it for the rest. I shall try and get some chain or some larger pots.Won't be moving as it is already a nice area!!! Believe it or not no one seems safe from opportunistic low life. Anyway we should not let this stop us from making our eniroment lovely for the majority. And I shall stop being so negative maybe it won't happen anyway! [IMG]
