Identification of plant by description

When I was in Malaga I went on a bit of a fruit foray.. I found some things including Lantana camara fruit, Syagrus romanzoffiana fruit, etc.

However there was some seeds, I don't know if they are native or non native to the area.

Basically they are round hard black seeds, similar to a Canna, maybe slightly bigger, and were attached to a papery calyx. The calyx was enclosed and latern shaped, very much like that of Physalis peruviana, but with three sides all having a hard black seed attached to the papery calyx (but not enclosed in fruit).

Sounds like something I have seen, but just cant put my finger on it

 

I didn't even pay much close attention to the plant it was hanging off.. not sure why!

I wonder if it could have been Akebia quinata? (Edit not that actually)

If I recall vaguely the plant may have had a palmate type of leaf, similar to Akebia

 

My god, I've got one in my garden, well done Marley.

 

Just to confused matters.. it wasn't on a tree.
