That looks like Borage, but a white one which is unusual.

I think white borage is becoming more popular. It is quite easy to find seed for it now.

It's arrived just in time for the Pimms!
I have some of the blue in my garden, buds not open yet.

I always get Borage mixed up with green alkanet.

When I first encountered green alkanet I assumed it was borage - at that time I hadn't yet seen any real borage. However the flowers are edible and can be used in a garnish the same way as the borage flowers, so it's not going to be a fatal mistake.

I dont think I've seen Borage in flower or out for that matter, but I do remember assuming green alkanet was borage for a long time until I was told other wise.

          I didn't know it was still edible.

Borage and Green Alkanet for comparison. The Alkanet flowers are much smaller and simpler, rather like forget-me-not flowers, and it flowers much earlier in the season.

Green alkanet's a thug! Long black root, takes forever to dig it out, and the leaves are rather prickly. But the bees like it, so I can forgive it.
