Now, don't misunderstand me, there's nothing wrong with the Jubilee itself, people having picnics, red white and blue food of every description, bunting, people dressing up, having fun, if the weather holds, it'll be great - but .... if the Jubilee is proving one thing, it's that at least of the population have absolutely no idea of the correct way to hang the union flag and I'm not just talking about flags draped from bedroom windows, I'm talking 6' x 4' or even 8' x 5' things in shop windows, outside hotels and pubs, in fact just about anywhere.

Do these people not realise that for a pedant such as I, this is almost more than flesh and blood can stand? Or how hard it is to stop myself rushing into offending premises to scream 'Your flag is upside down and it's a union flag not a union jack - unless you're all at sea, which, considering your flag is the wrong way up, could very well be the case.'

I'll be glad when it's all over and I can stop taking the pills :heehee:

Think I'll play my original copy whilst my daughter's away helping out at the local Jubilee Picnic - don't think young people understand this stuff nowadays.

The Jubilee doesn't bother me too much (despite the best efforts of the BBC Overkill Department), however The Olympics is the one that I cannot wait to see the back of.

Waste of money, waste of time, and detrimental to the daily lives of the vast majority of people around it, just so the rich can have their plaything.

Sheesh! Shouldn't this go into the grumpy old moans thread ?

I'm actually looking forward to the Jubilee, just wish I could go and watch the pageant on the Thames. We've got a street party on monday, should be loads of fun, unless someone hangs the flag upside down in which case it might be spoiled. Then we've got Euro 2012 followed by the Olympics, for me it's going to be a great summer :blue thumb:

I think flying the Union Flag upside down is a sign of distress.

You would have thought that, with the Jubilee and all that, there might be the odd TV prog. about it.
                          Has anybody noticed one?:sofa:

If getting the flag the right way around is a priority, then in my opinion there's a bit of a design flaw. It should say 'this way up' or something across the top. Better still, it should incorporate the Welsh dragon. Wales should be in there somewhere - can't understand why it isn't - and even Medway folk would probably be able the get a dragon the right way up.
