@JWK~: I've applied at both the Scottish Agricultural College (Edinburgh Campus) as my 1st choice and at Writtle College in Essex as my 2nd Choice and the course at both is BSc in Horticulture with Plantsmanship and I've already received a Conditional offer from Writtle college

The: SAC Course looks fab and is taught in partnership with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (Course Leaflet --> http://www.sac.ac.uk/mainrep/pdfs/CLHwP.pdf)

Only problem I can see is the price of accommodation even with burseries/grants and loans! roughly £120 a week for a shared flat with on-suite and joined kitchen compared with my mum's 3 bed council house at £90:roll:

@roders~: Just call me conkers or chestnut, I'll know who your on about:hehe:

    ----

Thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome back (^_^)

Interesting choices conker, I've never been to the SAC but Edinburgh is a great place for students anyway - that course does look good. Writtle is a good college but it's next to Chelmsford which just doesn't compare. Did you consider Sutton Bonington (my old college) - it does more than Agriculture/Horticulture now. Yes the accomodation is going to be pricey everywhere - you'll have to get a part time job or two :thumb:

    Welcome back Aesculus :gnthb:

Writtle also has a very good reputation :). Isn't it part of East Anglia Uni now?

Whichever you go to I wish you the best of luck. :thumb:

[IMG] Aesculus..!!! Great to see you back again..!! I have a couple of relatives & a friend who have been to Edinburgh Uni...!! They all did well & had a great time whilst there also..... They all spent the 1st year in a hall of residence & during that time all found excellent places to rent as they were not in a hurry to find somewhere... They all ended up with super accomodation afterwards....!!! They all did well & enjoyed every minute at Edinburgh....!!! So wherever you decide to settle on, I wish you all the luck in the world mate & look forward to seeing you on here too..:thumb:

Hi welcome back! Luckily I worked three years before going to uni which helped a little with accomodation costs, only a little though, I didn't manage to save as much as I expected to  I'm in second year of an English degree now, it would be fantastic to do a course in Horticulture, I'm always desperate to read about gardening & get out in the garden after days full of renaissance and medieval literature! I also know a few people at uni in Edinburgh & they love it, it's a great city but all the courses sound great so whatever you get accepted in good luck!
