Ok, I have planted spring bulbs in loads of containers (the garden is covered in gravel and we are renting). But they look awful as all that were showing was tubs with compost! I sometimes heard/read that plant some other plants such as pansies/viola on top to make them less boring which I did and I would find it very boring also to fill all the pots with these flowers so I have also planted some other winter plants (cyclamen, daisies bellis, ivy etc)in some of the pots. Anyway my questions :

    1) will the bulbs come through all these plants?

    2) Have I misunderstood the concept of underplanting?

    3) When the bulbs come through next year, am I suppose to remove all these top plants (because I spent lots of time arranging the bulbs and I don't think the winter plants will go with my scheme)?

4)What do I do with all these bulbs once they have finished flowering, I may not want to leave them in the same pots.

[IMG] Sorry for all these questions but any comments will be much appreciated!

    thank you [IMG]

    1) yes the bulbs will come through - they'll come through anything!
    3) depends upon the condition of the plants and do they look okay with the bulbs - pretty much up to you.
    4) you can either leave them where they are or lift them, clean and store them in a dry area and replant them next autumn
    2) doesn't sound like you've got it wrong to me.

Finally, don't bother about the number of questions, that's what keep GC lively!

I never knew gardening can be very addictive. I'm obsessed with it! I'm having sleepless nights thinking of plants! Keep going to garden centres and nurseries to buy plants!!! Gosh I'm going insane!!!

Geez and I also find out that gardening can also break my husband's bank!!! :D We just got married 4 months ago and I am wondering when he will divorce me! [IMG]

lol yes Fran very healthy indeed. To be honest I have lost a few pounds (in weight lol) since doing a bit of gardening. So instead spending money going to gym, I'm spending it on the beautiful plants. It really is worth all the money and effort when the flowers are in bloom!

    :D
