I had a sort of plastic sandwich box thing, full of packets of seeds. I knew exactly were they were amongst the mess that was the utility room. I've since tidied up, and now I can't find them. I can only assume they're now in the shed, but the shed is currently in the middle of a building site, and its dark, and raining. Still, I guess Mrs CL1 will understand if I trail massive clods of mud in after I've been out to have a look.

My seeds have been erased from history. They just do not exist any more.

So I've ordered some new stuff. I know it seems odd that I'm considering this as urgent given that its december, but that's because I'm keen to test my magic cupboard.

Anyway here's what I've just ordered.

          ITEM
          PRICE
          QUANTITY
          TOTAL

            Lovely selection there CL1 :dbgrtmb:

Funny thing about losing things; they often turn up when (and where) you least expect them.

Didn't you put the seeds in a safe place

I've put things in safe places, but i can't remember where the safe place is :snork:

You've probably guessed I quite like coreopsis at the moment. I grew some at the beginning of this year and they did far better than I'd hoped. When combined with the striking red flowers of the runner beans growing in the same bed, the combined effect is by pure accident almost exactly the effect I've wanted to achieve for years but didn't know how. The effect I'm after is sort of hot sort of almost fire colours.

I also need something in a bold cerise colour to complete the effect. For this year I'll let the opium poppies play that role, but for next year onwards I'm hoping to have a range of very nice looking poppies that have grown on some wasteland near my mam's, not natives, clearly garden escapes, I missed their seed pods this year but I'll make sure I find time to get some next year.

I had put Runner beans I had saved into a glass jar 10 years ago !!! havnt a clue what variety as I had them off another guy when I had the allotment and thats 15 years ago at least , with moving twice since then I had put a load of seed in a sweet tin plus the jam jar and only found them last year in the garage having a tidy up, I just thought it was empty or forgot what I had put inside.

And yes amazingly they grew , so you never know Clueless they may turn up ......

Might be worth having a look for some emergent seedlings next Spring/Summer CL1?
ps they are easy to propogate from cuttings in Spring too

Sure to turn up now that you have ordered replacements! I lost a pruning saw in the garden and kept thinking I'd find it. Months later I gave up hope and bought another 1. Guess what I found 2 days after the replacement arrived? Hope Mrs CL1 hasn't banished you permanently to said shed:)

If anyone is growing flowers where they have runner beans it's a good idea to plant marigolds as well. They help deter blackfly. :dbgrtmb:

Would that be real marigolds (Calendula) or the French/African ones (Tagetes), or do either work?
