We've just created some raised beds. One bed is three feet square and I need some advice on what to plant. I want something that will grow no higher than 4 feet, no wider than about 3 feet, ideally evergreen but not necessarily, something with flowers or berries but if just foliage, unusual foliage. Is this an impossible task? :help: (The bed is two feet high.)

You can never have too many blueberries. I think a couple of bloob bushes would meet your criteria. They are supposed to like damp, ericaceous compost, but mine doesn't know that and is doing perfectly fine in ordinary compost in a container on the patio getting no more water than anything else.

Also, what about currents? There's plenty of choice there.

Thanks for the welcome. May go with the blueberry suggestion but we already have blackcurrant, redcurrant and gooseberry bushes in the garden and I was hoping to do something different.

Good evening Diane and welcome to the site. Assuming it doesn`t have to be edible, I would suggest either Sarcoccocas or Daphne.:gnthb:
