It's windy around here (W Cornwall). Some local horse chestnut trees are having their conkers blown off already. Is it worth saving/planting these? Will they grow?

No idea, but, surely it would be worth a try?

They are prone to rotting, try some on top of some compost rather than burying them.

Rob, because of the wet weather, Horse Chestnuts are dropping immature conkers here also. As Pete says, sorry, implies. They are probably too young to grow. However, if you don`t try, you will never know.

So you think it's worth trying to get them to grow, even if they're immature?

The ones that are falling off have probably not been pollinated.
Most trees go through a similar process, just wait until September.
