In a Pickle,(Shallots)

    Evening all Bob Flemming here,

    I am growing shallots this year and would like to pickle them as Ive never pickled before,but have been pickled many times:hehe:,can someone give me advise as how to go about it,I have saved an old pickled onion jar ready,but haven't got a clue what to do.

    Please help you lovely people.:thumb:.

    morning Bob the old slave driver always puts ours down for xmas, you must sterilise your jars jusr before you pu the shallots in.
    Mix 1/2 lb of sugar with 2pts of hot water and disolve thoroughly , then mix 1 part sugar water 2 parts vinigar fill your jars as full as you can cover completly with mixture and seal.
    N;B, Try thesame mixture with beetroot you'll never go back to just vinigar .

    Thanks Micky,Don't think i could wait till Xmas to try them.
    How many days/weeks does it take for the actual pickling to take place ?if you know what i mean

    Hi Bob
    This IS the old slavedriver!! We tend to eat ours any time after three weeks. In fact I like them better when they haven't been down too long.
