Some of you can probably remember me saying last tues.that my parents dog "Paddy" had died,he was such a wonderful boy they are still so very upset.I have been thinking of getting a plant for them in memory of Pads.
Well today i found a Hedera "Paddy's Pride" at a boot sale (well established plant),so i bought it for them i think i will wait a while before i give it to them. But i think it's very apt.

Well done, Gogs. It will be a nice reminder.

I've always bought plants when mine died. For Skwij I got a Cercis tree (it's called the Judas Tree but also the Tree of Love). It bears shocking pink flowers on bare stems in March/April which is when he died. For Puschka I got three mini roses (four to a pot so twelve) ... a girl can't have too many roses!

    Here's Puschka's roses ...

She's under them and Skwij is under the pot behind. I'll take a piccie of Skwij's tree when it's in bloom.

Thanks, Fancy ... I always have a smile and chat when I'm down there watering or passing by! It's still "new" as Puschka went in December and Skwij in 2004. They were brother and sister, pure white; he was 13 and she 14 and she was ill the entire time after he went with heart and lung problems (on 4 medications a day for 20 months) ... started almost immediately but must have been coming along unnoticed to us!

Bless their little heart, souls (I believe animals have them) and gizzards! [IMG] [IMG]

It's always so sad and upsetting when pets go, they are just like one of the family, aren't they? Our 4 cats are all buried out back in our garden, we can see their graves from here in the study and from our bedroom, also from the two bedrooms upstairs. We have stones on all of the graves with a cat's head and shoulders engraved on them and then their names and dates. At least on the first three - Sammy Cheng, then the twins Mingo and Tonto, these were all seal-point Siamese. The next one has a stone but it must still be engraved (I must give Hubby a kick), this is Greyhound, a Kart¤user (British Blue, I think). Now we just have Gato, his pic is my avatar. We have something blooming by the cats most the time, then there are the evergreen things.

Your parents will love the plant once they are over the worst Gogs and I think that it will help them a bit too.

LofL, the Puschka mini roses are lovely and colourful. We'll be looking for Skwij's treelet in bloom later on.
