After the pages of Taddie photos and talk in the spring, its all gone a bit quiet on the Taddie/ Froggie front....

Have any of your Taddies migrated yet?? Have you all got hundreds of Froglets hopping around the garden???

Our two frogs are just the same, happily sitting under a pot in the corner of the pond...

    What are all yours doing???

    Piccies, please!!!! [IMG]

    Hello Honey bee [IMG]
My tadpoles in my main pond seem to have left, but the tadpoles in my sink water feature have got back legs, and changed colour. I give them a pinch of flaked fish food each day, and they rush to the surface to gobble that up. I will really miss them when they have gone, its been good to have them in the water trough as I have seen more of them. I think they may have eaten "Bob" he's my watersnail I can't find him in there anymore? does anyone know if they eat the snails..they sometimes eat each other, so It could be possibe :(

Our taddies are just down-right lazy! Apart from getting bigger, none of them show any signs of wanting to grow up and I reckon they've just got it easy! They get the odd pinch of fish flake food every now and then, plus a slice or two of cucumber (they love this) and I think they are quite happy where they are, thank you very much. The new waterfall is now up and running and I'm very pleased with the way the pond looks now, considering it's less than a month old:

was a late spring this year so apparently many tadpoles are late in developing. I went to a springwatch event where one of the volunteers was talking about how if conditions are not right some will remain as tadpoles forever. Apparently adding iodine to the water will encourage growth of legs and the change from tadpole to frog.

chmk8 - wow never knew that!!!!

Cobby - your pond look so established!!! And I'm not surprised they don't want to grow up and have to fend for themselves if you feed them all those goodies!!!! ;)

For the second year running I have no tadpoles, they hatched out of the spawn, and just about became free swimming then totally disapeared from both ponds. The top pond has no fish.

    I am bewildered.

Perfect excuse for not mowing the lawn today!! The grass is full of hopping young frogs :D :D They still have their tails and look much better this year than for some time. When they have all gone, I shall at last be able to net off the thick duckweed that is covering the pond.

Not too sure if taddies will eat watersnails - I reckon they are a bit too big. Tadpoles are still doing nothing in our pond, just swimming, eating, more swimming, more eating...

Mr Toad showed himself properly the other day and luckily I grabbed a pic before he wallowed off again:

Last weekend we visited my wife's sister and hubby in the midlands and their pond is STUFFED with newts! I was totally fascinated. They are not easy to photograph...

Alegedly my friend's pond now has little frogies too. I've only seen some taddies with legs on so far but there was a very suspicious 'plop' the other day!

We keep hearing 'plops' from one of our other smaller, rather overgrown ponds, everytime we walk past. Being of curious nature, I lay in wait to see what it was. It turned out to be large tadpoles, still without proper legs, wriggling up onto leaves and rocks to bask in the sun, only to wriggle back in as soon as anything moved!
