    Hi all.
Ive got a small area under a window that is crying out for something nice to be planted.Problem is,the sun only shines on it in the evening. All day long its in the shade, and as yet,ive found nothing that will grow.....apart from weeds. The area is approx 5m X 2m.
I'm looking for something with colour, and something that will grow every year.(perenial is it?).
If any of you have a couple of good ideas,i'd be grateful to hear them.
    Thanks,
    Joe.

Alot depends on your soil - is it acid where you are? if so, you could grow azaleas, rhododendrons. camellias etc. They do well in shade.

If not, try skimmia, mahonia, euonymus or fatsia japonica as shrubs.

For perennials try bergenia, pulmonaria, pachysandra ( rather boring that one!) or even ferns - there are some lovely ones about -japanese painted, red beauty or ursulas red to name a few that arent green!

For annuals try buzy lizzies or begonia sempiflorens - they do well in shade.

    Hope this helps
