"Collection" is a very loose term :heehee:

I already have a yucca which I bought in my last house, thought I'd killed, put the pot out in the garden for later disposal. It was rained on, snowed on and ... remarkably: grew :thud: . So brought it with me to here and it is still going strong.

I have a Hoya from my first ever visit to shineyland, which has also survived my neglect.

I won a Christmas Cactus at a local event.

Then I was reading an article regarding houseplants and health benefits (here) . So, out and about the other day, went to the reduced section and bought:-

1 x fern (Boston, I think) for 50p - quite a good sized one too for the price. But it was looking extremely sad and sorry for itself. So I gave it a small drink and a spritz, popped it in the bathroom and already it is perking up and looking happier.

1x Dracaena - also looking very sorry for itself. Bit more expensive that one @ £2.50 but worth a punt for that price. May not be in quite the right place yet, but it is in the basement lounge in the bay window area.

2x Spider plants for £6 the pair: one for the lounge, one for the office. A few of the leaf ends are a little brown, but, I think I can nurture it with enough neglect they will bounce back.

All 3 were featured in the article for their benefits . Hopefully they will all reward me without being too demanding :heehee:

Note to self: must look out for a Peace Lily next.

I am forbidden to buy any more houseplants but I managed to sneak in an aspidistra just before Christmas and husband still hasn't noticed. :)

Is that the only one you managed to sneak in (unnoticed)?

Ooh lovely M! Always wanted plants in the bathroom and I'd love a white peace Lily too, they look so elegant. I've got 2 Kalanchoes one pale pink, one bright pink, after they flowered I cut them right back and one has leafed out well since, the other was hacked a bit too much though so I could do with increasing my indoor plants too!

Just looked those up, they look lovely! I'll have to add those to my wish list :heehee:

Since I began this thread, I've got a Peace Lily (Mr "M" treated me to one) and its a gorgeous plant.

I also have a Crassula now too :heehee:

Slowly but surely the plants are beginning to invade the house :heehee:

Aw thats nice, I do love plants as gifts! And that crassula looks funky, haven't heard of that before!

They've been selling them Kalanchoes in tesco/asda as easter pressies, quite cheap too so you may get a reduced one? Bought mine reduced in bnq last sep, they flowered for about 8 weeks until I deadheaded it all, nothing was happening and looked quite sickly so I chopped it right back before xmas. Didnt have a clue what I was doing as I couldnt find anything really on looking after it.. one hasnt changed since the chop, think it needs to go haha I'm too optimistic! 20160329_130800.jpg

I heard tell that you should not sleep in a room with a peace lily in flower. Cannot remember where, maybe the NASA site. Anyhoo, I took that as read at that time so when they are in flower I move them to the bathroom.
I'll try to find the article as I've forgotten all the sciency bit, haha. :)
