I'm not sure if I should be in Trees or here in Edible Gardening!

I have put up at least 16 jars of these peaches, made jam, this time with lots of ginger in it, and then I started just freezing the skinned and pitted fruit. Have frozen it in 500g, 1000g and 1500g packets for later jam or compote making.

In spite of hundreds falling off as baby fruits, there are so many left that apart from me working overtime preserving them, our neighbours and friends are also hard at work doing the same!

Thanks to dendrobium for finding the link for me, I didn't know the exact name up till then.

The tree isn't that old, perhaps about 8 years, but we did get a lot last year too, enough that we gave quite a few (boxes) away to the neighbours. This year was really good. I don't know if because we had the 3 heat-waves, same as you did in the UK, and inbetween cold spells and lots of rain. Or is it because the tree is now old enough to bear lots. We'll see how it goes next year pete.

You are very welcome dendrobium. If it wasn't for you we still wouldn't know the proper name, as neither Hubby nor I am really good at looking.

If anyone finds where you can buy one of these in the UK please let me know! My dad would love one of these. He's got a white peach that's never done that well here.

WOW - same here - I would love a peach, but thought we would never get one to fuit much outside.....

KG - Do you keep it outside - and is it outside all year, or do you bring it in during winter?

I think your winters are much colder, and summers usually hotter than us.....?? (this year apart!! )

It is planted in the garden, never was in a pot.
Years ago we had a "regular" peach tree, was said to be winterhardy but it never did anything and after a couple of years that was the end of it. We came to the conclusion that it was just not possible to grow peaches up here, until friends gave us this red peach. They had one in their garden and grew some from stones to give away. Originally they brought a treelet or some stones back from a holiday in the Yugoslavia area.

Hi Kedi-gato, I've never heard of this peach either. Would you be willing to send some stones for some of us to try? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Hello, Liz. Send me your details and I'll get some off to you next week.

Would anyone else like some stones? If so, send your details also.
