I have tried to not be lazy and find one of these for myself by scouring every plant book my mum and I have, but cant find a suggestion that covers what I want. My ensuite has no window and I'm trying to find a plant to put in there, I have space on a unit that is crying out for a bit of green. The maximum height I could have is about 16 inches including pot as I have a unit above. Does anyone please have any suggestions of something that would be suitable. I have a peace lily in the normal bathroom and as long as i move that away from the window in the summer it does fine, but i dont think it would like complete darkness, (other than when the light is on of course). Any ideas will be appreciated.

May I respectfully suggest that you look at silk substitute as a way to introduce your green to the en suite. The fact that there is no window, therefore no natural light - I can not think of one small plant that would meet your requirements.

You could try a fern - but without any light, I doubt they would do well.

How mushroom do you have in there? :D
Sorry about that but I agree with Fran, cant think of any plant other than fungi that can grow without some daylight.

Your only option if you want anything other than mushrooms or artificial flowers in your en suit would be to use a grow light which would need to be on for a minimum of 10 hours a day. Plenty of green, moisture loving plants available for a warm room but you absolutly need some light -even for ferns.
