My dad has given me a small potted acer as its not doing too well in his South facing exposed garden: the leaves have gone a bit brown and it hasn't grown for a while. Pot size seems OK. I've kept it in its pot and put it in my partially shaded garden against a fence with a fresh layer of Compost on top and watered it with some miracle gro feed.
Are the leaves like this as a result of wind/sun exposure and is it permanent damage? Anything else I can do to help it along?

Not looking that bad to be honest with you , keep on what you are doing .... young plants are more prone to wind scortch .... soon pick up ... just keep well watered over the summer dont let it dry out and should be fine

Same as Spruce....looks ok to me Leanne:)
The compost looks a little wet ......are you watering it too generously? As Spruce said, don’t let it dry out during the summer though
