My kids bought me an Acer Garnet 1m tall in a pot. I've kept it well watered and as it has been sunny but cold I have been standing it in garden and bringing it in at night. We had a particularly sunny day for this time of year and the leaves now don't look very healthy and I suspect it may have been scorched. If it has, can I do anything about it? Should I keep it in the dark for a bit? Frantic!!!

Panic not..it will grow new leaves.
Acers are far happier in a sheltered shade/semi shade spot.
    They detest wind.
Just put it outside...in the dark it will not be happy.

If it was in leaf when you received it then it was probably polytunnel grown to induced early leaf growth for early sales. Acers are prone to frost damage, my sometimes are but they will grow through it.
