Hi, I am very much a gardening beginner and welcome any advice anyone can give.
I want to plant flowers in my garden but I have a strong phobia of flying insects (bees, wasps, butterflies etc). Does such a plant or flower exist that might DEtract these?

flowers flower because they are polinated by insects.

You poor poor thing, I have heard of this phobia before, why not use your desire to have flowers in your garden as a start to overcomming your problem rather than just letting it rule your life.

Aw Waco says most of the flowers grown in this country are polinated or fed on by flying insects. I can't think of any that would actually act as deterant. I would suggest that you seek treatment for the phobia if you want to grow flowers - or indeed if you want to enjoy outside spaces.

Another option would be to decorate your garden with landscaping and false flowers - but you would still get flying insects - butterfly's and bees basking in the sun on stone, and other insects exploring the area for food or homes.
