Hi, Making a frame using 38mm timber and we intend to cover it on both sides of the frame so it creates a good air gap / insulator. Bubble Wrap would seem to be the obvious choice but wonder if plain, but reasonably thick Polythene sheeting ( not the thin dust sheets) would work just as well for half the cost ? Cannot find any clear comparision between the two materials on the web.
I would think that they would both be about the the same. The two layers of polythene will trap air, as will the bubble wrap. The polythene may let slightly more light through. The bubble wrap would be better if you were only using one layer.
Treat yourself to some clear twinwall polycarbonate, 10mm is fine, likely to last 20years plus. www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-10mm-Twinwall-Polycarbonate-Sheet---700-x-2500mm/p/246000
Its only a short term cover so expensive twinwall not an option, though we do use it for the greenhouse glazing, use a local company much cheaper that the diy stores, and they cut it to size with a laser or similar, so no swarf inside. 10mm Clear Sunliteā¢ Polycarbonate Twinwall Cut To Size
