I have just started to re-use some plant pots from last year to replant some flowers, however when i have started to empty out the old compost i have discovered some very interesting flying insects at the bottom of the pots.
They actually look like small furry wasps, does anyone know what these maybe and if they are dangerous or just a pest.
I have 2 small children who play in the garden and i'm not sure of how to get rid of these flying bugs.

    Hoverflies?

They are harmless-as are wasps and bees if you leave them be. Hoverflies eat aphids and are to be encourages.
