Thanks Armandii. :blue thumb: But no chance of seeing it with the current cloud cover.

In all honesty I have very mixed feeling about all this space thingy. Great what has been accomplished, but for what purpose.

The arms race. The nuclear power race. The space race. What, why. I am no astro phycistit etc. My simple basic maths come up with a kind of triangulation. The top point being way above the earth. Sounds daft but feasable. The higher up you can get, the greater the down below becomes. So might the space race be linked to the arms race and world domination. So comes the day when Dad calls his family together . Come on now. Our flight to the moon is next.

Why are we going there dad? To start a new life. Question. My family age range is 8-65 yrs. Will living on the moon extend our life span. Why are we even going there? here we have everything. To start a new life. NEW! cobblers. We can't live together here, how are we going to cope way up there. Answers on a post card.

Well, we could debate about that forever, Mike, but this isn't the thread for it. Let's just say it's in mainkind's genes to be curious and explore ever since we left the caves and looked up at all the billions of stars that you could see then but not so much now.

It was very much so during from the 50's up to the 90's when we realised that we'd reached the MAD point (Mutally Assured Destruction). Now more and more private firms are investing in and beating such as NASA in
fantastic steps in space technology.........for profit and survival reasons
            .
It's not suppposed to and that was never the purpose, Mike:dunno::nonofinger: The Moon is going to be the place where we can build living areas and facilities to launch new technology rockets to get us into deep space where Mankinds future lies. It's easier to launch rockets from there, due to the lower gravity, and make rocket fuel from the water there so the Moon will become the stepping stone.

Not sure I understand the logic of that:dunno:

Tourism is still far away, but many people want to go into space for many reasons, it would be a long time before it can become viable........don't let it obscure the main purpose of space exploration... Survival.

Have we??? Right now, the human population is exploding in numbers and has reached nearly 8 Billion, we're using up the finite resources of our beautiful blue planet at an alarming rate, while polluting our atmosphere and environment enough to threaten us all. Stay on Earth and we will become extinct while the Politicians, and others, continue to deny there is such a thing as climate change and that mankind is not responslble for that and our Earth.

If mankind stays sitting on Earth, even without doing the harmful things we are doing now, then we (mankind) will disappear when our Sun dies and turns into a Red Giant that will expand consuming our Earth. Despite of all Mankind's faults I think we owe it to future generations to survive by finding new homes in space..........like I said, it's in Mankind's genes to do so.:dunno:

              Good afternoon
The ISS serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which crew members conduct experiments in biology, human biology, physics, astronomy, meteorology, and other fields. The station is suited for the testing of spacecraft systems and equipment required for missions to the Moon and Mars.

Since 2000, 220 people from 17 countries have visited the ISS. The first crew was made up of three astronauts from America, Russia and Ukraine. At the moment six people are living on board.
Right now NASA astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko are in the middle of a year-long shift aboard the ISS. They'll be the first humans to spend a consecutive year living in space:smile:

Out looking up at the stars this morning 6am and I've never seen a long string of satellites all in a straight line about 8-15 of them before all heading east :)
