I heard from my son today that Windows IE is being replaced by the new Spartan browser later in the year. Have any members any thoughts on this?

As a Mac user I don't use IE. I'd rather use something like Firefox or Chrome if I had a PC though rather than IE, I've never really liked it as a browser, haven't for a number of years now.

Hopefully their new browser will follow industry standards rather than force their own propriety technologies on the web like their previous browser did.

Firefox seems to be dropping the occasional ball at the moment, which is unusual as I have always found it to be very good. I set up a brand new PC for my daughter last night, installed Firefox, and couldn't get YouTube to play at any cost. IE and Chrome both played absolutely fine.

I un-installed and reinstalled to no avail, so in the end it was un-installed and Chrome was set as the default browser.

Hopefully, by now, MS will have recognised that their customers are fed up of having stuff foisted upon them that is either as clunky as hell, or requires continual updates to the point where MS are getting more usage time out of it than the owner is.

To be honest FC I think all the browsers are as bad as each other. Not one of them operates properly for me and IE is the best of the bunch. I switch to Firefox now and again, particularly to upload photo's to GC and Chrome is a non starter, it's hopeless!

I ga ve up on firefox because it was full of ads and links on certain words which I didn't want.
Not sure why it went that way, it was fine for a long time for me.

I now use chrome, it seems to do what I want it to without any strange goings on.

Strange...and interesting to hear our members comments on the browsers with their particular system.
I am a mac man and have been for awhile. I prefer Chrome all of the time and it never lets me down and does what it says on the tin.
I still have windoz machines and I prefer not to use IE.
Fact is I prefer not to use a MS at all.

I used chrome for a while but was constantly getting pop ups even though I had set it to block them so returned to IE
