    Hi all,
Got 8 different types of these but the advice on the packets is a bit conflicting....

On some it says put in a dark place on others it says put on a windowsill, which is best please ?

    Thanks

Dont think it matters, dont think Ipomea needs light to germinate.

Ipomea need heat to germinate. Like Pete I doubt that they give two hoots about light as far as germination goes. A 24 hour soak helps no end though.

Ipomea and Tropaeolum both grow fast once germinated and ipomea definitely need warm nights, so I'd wait till late April for both.

I have just germinated some annual Ipomea. I gave them a 24 hour soak, then covered them and put them in a heated propagator - at about 25C. They came up very quickly. The problem will be what to do with them until the weather gets warmer. they aren't going to remain small for long.

They say that Ipomea likes warmth, and can do well down south, but not so well up north with me. That has been my experience so I am planning to grow mine inside my conservatory over the summer.
