Appears to be one of the ones that has a tuberous root, not come across it, but probably very close to sweet potato.

Yes, sounded interesting for one of my trellises out front. Will come back here at a later date.

I notice its considered an invasive species in the warmer parts of the US, which would mean it could be around your area as well I would think.

Could be, but I have only seen the common blue Morning Glory running rampant and we have the little pink Convolvulus up our lane, Convolvulus arvensis, the field bindweed, I think.

I have never seen one with Palmate leaves.

              Stick around, you probably will.:roflol:

That blue one is the one I have, it rarely survives the winter outside here.

I've grown the purple Morning Glory almost every year since I first saw it when we lived in Spain. I used to use it on our balconies over there for many years. I've also grown it most year since we have lived in this flat as well. Last year it really turned out to be a "damp squib"! The only plant that really took off was a self-sown one in a hanging basket - of all places for one to grow!:roflol:

A week or two ago our 10-year-old- granddaughter found some seeds I'd collected from the balcony & wanted to plant one even though I said it was much too early & that we should wait till May before sowing them. Still she insisted on sowing one seed which has germinated & in the process of making it's first true leaf. As the roots were already coming out of the bottom of the tiny pot she sowed it in I repotted into a slightly bigger pot. I don't want to encourage it to grow much for the moment as it will die very quickly if I try to put it outside at present.

Here are some photos of the Morning Glory growing & flowering in a hanging basket from last summer. (It's not the first time this has happened to me!)
