    Hello all

    I hope you are well.

I have an area, around the water feature that has planting that likes more water than the rest of the garden.

One thing I have found is that Moss is growing on the soil surface, is it alright to let it spread in this area or will it be detrimental to the plants?

I have tried removing it but with the amount of moisture in the area it soon returns.

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

Moss ( rather than slimy algae ) in the right place can look very attractive, we have some partially submerged large stones in our pond that the moss has grown over and looks great as well as being a haven for the critters.

Doubt it would spread much further than the moist soil.

Would it out compete other plants, not sure ? but you could always clear the moss around the base of any smaller or young plants that may struggle.

    Hello @ricky101

    Thanks for the reply.

The plants in the area around the Water Feature are all relatively mature, they were planted in September 2019, so they should be able to cope if the Moss encroaches on them.

For now, I will leave the Moss to grow and spread and just weed out the 'normal' weeds.

    Thanks

    Kevin
