I bought a very colourful pansy and decided not to deadhead it in order to collect seed. However, before the seedheads ripen and open, they are being attacked by some sort of pest. A small roundish hole is nibbled into them to expose the immature seeds, which are then substantially eaten. It's been suggested earwigs are the villains. Can anyone advise me whether this is likely, or whether some other pest is to blame?
