    Hi,

    My mind ticking overtime again:snork:

I'm thinking of what to do with my front garden, as it's the boring grass and hedge common garden. it faces south and looks over a large field and woodlands. On the covenant, which is over 40 years now says the front gardens must be left open, grassed and nothing planted. But as we all know, people don't take much notice and plant hedges, trees, etc.

One idea that I've got is creating my front garden into a small veg/fruit patch. Would this be legal to do?

    Regards,

Strictly speaking it's not legal if your covenant says no. But who will enforce it? If your neighbours complained I suspect the council wouldn't be interested, only if a neighbour had deep pockets would it be a concern.

I'd think that strictly speaking, you'd be on shakey ground legally if you went ahead and planted it up. Two ways of approaching this I reckon. Firstly you could go ahead and plant it up and take the chance. The worst that can happen(?) is that you'll be told to return it to it's former state. Secondly, you could approach the holder of the covenant and ask permission.

Could you grow stuff in containers in the front garden?
