Is it too late to lay turf ?

I nearly have the garden ready for turfing...is it still ok or have I left it too late ?

 

It'll be fine to turf as long as you keep it watered when/if the weathers dry. It would be easier though to leave it until autumn if you don't want the bother.

My thought too. And if left until Autumn then you could seed instead (weed seeds will have shut down by then, so the grass will grow sufficiently over winter that it will be established by the Spring when the weeds start up again, and will need little or no additional watering next year. Soil preparation "effort" is the same for seed or turf ... so might save some money, plus you'll have more choice over what variety of seed you choose (luxury or hard wearing, full-sun or shade etc etc)

 

If you must lay turf now you may have to commit to a fair bit of watering,depending of course on the weather.
But remember,watering turf isn't a quick ten minute splash,you have to sprinkle for a good couple of hours each time.Bare in mind the water has to penetrate the turf before getting into the ground below,unlike a shrub or herbaceous plant.
Failure in ample watering may force the turf to search upwards for moisture,or at least retain it's root structure within itself.
This would lead to a poorly established lawn,susceptible to easy damage.
As mentioned above,best wait till October say,there's generally more moisture around while the ground retains a good portion of heat.
