I ask this as I turned all the garden lights on last night but the two Japanese lanterns didn't come on.

I checked them out this morning, both bulbs were OK. The fuse in the plug was OK and there was power coming from the transformer. So I followed the wire from the tea-house which runs around the back and side fences attached to hooks drilled into the posts about a foot from the ground. Then I found the problem. Close to a hole dug behind a camellia I found a two-foot section of the wire was on the ground. A fox must have bitten through it in two places!
