Obviously, it makes no difference to plants sensitive to daylight hours, but do you find that you are getting at least an extra month out of temperature sensitive plants?
Although this year was a bit of a tramp's blanket what with the late spring.

TBF, there is not a lot of difference between Sept and Oct here, temps wise. Lobelia, osteospermums and pelargoniums are often in flower in December. Impatiens do tend to kick the bucket around then, especially if temps below 5 degrees follow a wet spell.

I'm finding that really cold wet spell at the beginning of the month has stopped some of my late flowering stuff dead in its tracks.
Flowers are now opening very slowly if at all, it came very close to a frost on a few mornings and it was wet as well.

Personally I'm not a fan of autumn lousy time of the year.
Once the rains set in its the end, be it Sept or Oct.

It's the michaelmas daisies I find depressing. If I can ignore them, I quite like autumn

I like Michaelmas daisies. I like autumn when I'm in France, not so hot, more like an English summer, and I like the colours of the trees as they turn to orange, red and yellow. What I don't like is a frost in early October that kills my dahlias and bedding plants then the weather warms up and the garden looks miserable.

Michaelmas daisies mean summer's over to me.

I saw in the news that it was 25°C in Inverness yesterday - that is 14°C higher than the average for that day.

My Heleniums went into a state of suspended animation at the end of last month. They have plenty of new flower buds but are refusing to progress. Erigeron lasts here until December and is in full display. Some Hostas are reflowering as are many Heucheras. I'm getting a second flush of flowers from all the Nepetas I trimmed a few weeks ago. The large Rowan in my garden peaked early this year with more flowers than I've ever seen, plus too many berries for the birds to cope with. They are falling to the ground and causing a nuisance on steps and paving . Maybe the birds don't like the mature berries, they have a vaguely alcoholic aroma so I hope your old tramp's not travelling this way @BB3 .
