The new labour guy was just saying that since the conservatives took over we are lending 150 billion more. Is that true? I thought all these cut backs had cut the deficit??
    Cheers folks :D

UK national debt is coming down. At present it amounts roughly to
a figure in excess of £966 billions (which increases to £2266+ billions if you include the financial sector intervention).

So, not exactly debt free :heehee:but getting there...

I don't know who's right, but I would never believe a single word to come out of a Labour minister's mouth.

Money isn't real anyway so it doesn't really matter. Its all imaginary. Otherwise, where is it? Nearly every country in the world has lost all its money. As far as I'm aware we haven't started trading with extra-terrestrials yet so the money must be in the world somewhere, if its real.

I suppose it could have fell into the sea, or someone might have accidentally misplaced it I suppose, or it could be that its just 1's and 0's, or more accurately, small electrical impulses inside some software that doesn't work, but is so ingrained in the financial sectors of the world that nobody dare try to fix it.

All the money is in China and the oil producing nations that's why they are coming over here and buying up everything for a pittance.

There is a big irony here, it was mostly Chinese tourists who were buying all the expensive designer stuff in the Oxford St, Boxing/New Years Day sales. They make all that rubbish in China, add a fancy designer label, then ship it over here, then they have to fly half way round the world so they can buy it back

Yep, we give them the money and they buy us up.

The West should have put the brakes on the far east years ago, too late now, we all want everything too cheap.

A little protectionism against unfair competition, (child labour, sweat shops etc.) could have put us on a fair footing manufacturing wise, but we fell into their trap.

Pete, over the past few years we have sold our industries to the Americans, French, Spanish, Germans and Indians so why not the Chinese?
