    ...Or is it my eyesight?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18756050

It looks to me like a kid was riding his bike to see the torch, and momentarily drifted about a foot too close to the torch bearer, as he tried not to run over the spectators. So quick as a flash, he is physically attacked, thrown in front of a car which has to do an emergency stop, and launched at the ground.

Maybe its my poor eyesight, and the kid was really a terrorist, on a pushbike.

I'd give them a "Security Bubble" if they'd done that to my lad [IMG]

I hope there are criminal charges. I watched the video several times to try to work out if I'd got it wrong. I was trying to find any justification for the attack. Ok, I wasn't there, but to me it looked like he was riding along with the rest of the spectators. His eyes were on the people in the crowd who he was steering round. He didn't appear to be even looking at either the torch bearer or the officials.

He wasn't even simply restrained, which in my opinion would have still been inappropriate in the circumstances. He was very violently attacked. Having been thrown in front of a moving car, he landed forcefully on his behind. I expected it hurt, but more than that, it could have done lasting damage to his spine. He got up and walked away which suggests he is not that physically hurt, but he could well have been.

Well, that's one kid that's going to be inspired by the olympics. Not.

              Ahh,

This could be what they had been told not to let happen again,

              At all costs.

Maybe I should put a "Security Bubble" around my house to prevent the very real danger of drunk drivers hitting it again?

If I just tackle any driver going past then it will prevent the drunk ones hitting my property.

Ah, yes the British Olympics - legalised bullying in various forms, but its all OK because its all in the name of the smooth running of the games.

I seriously hope that something big goes off and leaves all the toffy nosed gits like Seb Coe looking suitably stupid.

What is more annoying, is that one way or another, we have all been forced to pay for this!

                  look at the video again

the person who 'removed' him, most probably done the correct thing, but could have been a bit 'gentler'

if you watch the leading car, it had to brake heavily aswell

this is a photo of the Olympic procession in Cambridge which was on the weekend

no matter how old you are, you should not even consider riding a bicycle through a crowd of that size:

I looked at the video several times, the boy on the bike was not heading for the torch and was nowhere near the car untill the he was thrown in front of the wheels  Thats why it had to break!

I hope he contacts the police he was assaulted.

I agree, the kid shouldn't have been riding his bike there, but kids are kids, and can't be expected to think like adults, for the simple reason that they are not adults.

The adults should know better. If you really must physically restrain a kid, you don't throw them in front of a moving car.

If the security farces were so sure he was such a threat that it was necessary to try to smash him, then why did they immediately let him go back into the crowd after they'd finished their assault?

He could have been stopped and held at the side he was on for a bit, not flung and dragged to the other side, no lodgic.

OK I think they over reacted and should have dealt with it better, but the kid should have been stopped before he got in that position.
Everyone else seemed to be on foot.

If we need this kind of security I cant see why we bother, just stick a sparkler in the gas jet at the stadium and forget all this stupid running around the country.
It just causes chaos wherever it goes any way.
