Cannot see the leaves properly, but the ones half visible do not look like Hogweed to me.

Could be, really need to see the leaves as the flowers on Common Hogweed and Cow Parsely look similar. Looks too small to be Giant Hogweed in case you were wondering.

Aye, Mrs C has just taken some more pics and I reckon it is elderflower too. Must have self-seeded from the tree further along the same border. I might even give it a reprieve, as it has taken up residence next to Muller.

I am sorry Gail, but the leaves on Giant Hogweed look more like Cow parsley than almost anything else (except perhaps Sweet Cicely). gianthogweed.JPG The leaves in both FC's images and the one you posted are nothing like. Both are definitely Elder.

Yes, Elder berries do leave a terrible purple stain, even second hand (courtesy of the blackbirds).

While we'm on the subject, elder flowers and berries make great wines. Both completely different.

But don't be tempted to try the berries raw unless you want the world to fall out of your bottom :yikes:

Well it's messy job mate and it doesn't show purple on our slabs where the black birds are it's pure black we have to stick acid on again to remove it :dunno:

I would say Elderflower too. My late uncle was an award winning winemaker and his Elderflower champagne was just wonderful :wub2:, quite potent too.
