Hello all , this plant came with the house so goodness knows how many years its been here for. I dont know exactly what it is or what its supposed to look like. Generally i just ignore it but i gave it a little bit of water today. Its situated in the kitchen.
Does it look healthy and is there anything i should be doing to it ?

It’s a cactus of some sort, it’s quite like one my mum had. The brown bits look dead to me. It doesn’t want much water, so be very sparing with it. Hopefully someone else will know what to do about the brown bits.

It looks like three separate plants and two are dead.
Keep it some where bright and frost free, even some full sunlight and water when dry in summer, less or not at all in winter.

Its disappointing to hear that the not green ones may not be alive. Is there anything that can be done ?

It's a cactus as said above. The brown bits are dead.
It looks as if it needs repotting. Cut the dead bits off. Use a gritty mixture and put it in a pot with drainage holes. Use a smaller pot, one just big enough for the green bit only.
Put it in a sunny spot and water only when the compost is completely dry, then give it a good soaking. Don't water again until completely dry.
In winter keep it somewhere cool and keep it quite dry.
I can't tell from the picture what cactus it is, but if you can get a closeup maybe I could at least give you the genus.
