What did our dads always say?
"Keep your "free" hand behind the chisel."
But we never learn do we?
    Hope it isn't too bad.

No...not lost it.. just feels like it.:(:(
Not as bad as I made out.
It went in deep and bleed a lot.
With the aid of an ex theartre nurse we got it under control with a couple of closers and all being well in a couple days I shall remove the dressings and hope the healing process has started.
    My own stupid fault.
I think what made it worse was it was a small 6mm flat which I had just honed and polished to perfection.
I did not even feel it go in and never noticed until I felt the wetness.
The referance to lost finger refers to the fact that I cant use it to type which is a pain.
Also I cant do the washing up:thmb:
Fact is I was lucky and it stayed away from the tendons.
It could have been a different story then...
Another strange thing... you know when you cut deep the throbbing pain starts and stays with you for awhile?
I had about 30 secs of that and it has not hurt since!

Oh dear Robert, what a thing to happen! :(
I'm glad it isn't too badly hurt and you had someone to hand so to speak! You men are always telling us women to be careful with things :hehe:

Glad you haven't lost the finger. It was probably a good job you had just sharpened it or it may have been worse. The numbness and lack of pain is an odd one-it happened to me once when I badly burned my arm-it didn't hurt at all.

Glad you are just about in one piece though.
