    pamdish is right! Liatris Spicata.

    I accidentally snapped off the top third of the stem before it formed the flower buds so instead of forming a slender spike of flowers it formed a fist shaped bunch of blooms. I rather like it myself to the usual :) Maybe I'll purposefully do them all like that next year.

    yes it does look good,i find it tends to lean like montbretia,i might try the same as well
