I like to have some "Christmas lights" outside. Beginning of the month I put some up. with a timer indoors. Other day I came home lights not on, checked timer, it was wrong time and day. Thought no more of it, put it right. Came home today, same thing. Binned the timer.

Thought not to worry I brought another one, use that. Got that one, no display, plugged it in, left it for a while still no display, binned that (No receipt either)

I am going back to using mechanical times as they are more reliable, and seem to last for years.

Has anyone else had problems with electronic timers?

I've had a most positive experience with lights this year !

After seeing outside lights wound around trees i fancied getting some this year, didn't want to really invest large sums so just went to the local 'cheap shop'.

I bought a small box of clear/blue-white lights and draped them over and around my Corylus contorta purpurea to the left of the front door, considering i only paid £15 for them they are absolutely brilliant, they look great !
I'm chuffed to bits with them  :D

I use mechanical timers for my lights, they are much simpler to set up and use - the trouble I have with electronic ones is remembering how to programme them. Then its sods law there will be a power cut and it 'forgets' it's sequence becuase the battery is flat. Much simpler and cheaper with mechanical. I bought a pack of three mechanical timers very cheaply and they have lasted years.
