To cut a long story short I had toothache. Appointment made for today (Friday) but by 11pm Wednesday night it was excruciating. Made broking my neck seem like an itch in comparison. So I started popping the pills - paracetamol, ibuprofen and codiene. Lots of pills - enough to tame it to merely extremely painful. Over ten hours I took 9 codiene, 21 ibuprofen and thirty paracetamol. So I've just spent 30 hours on a drip and having blood tests for liver damage.

    What a pratt!!!

Best thing for toothache is alcohol, pills dont work.

I tend to use either whisky or bacardi.

I dont mean get drunk, just let it lay there around the offending tooth.

Oil of cloves, on a bit of cotton wool - directly on the tooth, not anywhere else, it tastes vile, and will numb anything it touches.:mute:

I had a polyps in my ear canal years ago, went to see a specialist privately, who said I can do it next week, my reply was "I will be dead by then" as I was popping them like you, and had been building them up for a few weeks, whilst the Dr was treating me for an ear infection, I was admitted to hospital the next day, Saturday, x-ray, the consultant came to see me SUNDAY afternoon, and told me my life was in danger as it could burst into my brain, emergency op. Apart from being deaf in that ear, from the polyps, the pill popping left no lasting damage.

I don't drink and scotch turns me into an animal.
Liquid morphine that they gave me didn't touch it though.

They wanted me to do another 16 hours on the drip but agreed that as the latest tests were at the upper end of acceptable I could go home as long as I agreed to only use their prescription. Another test on Monday too.

No - they need the infection to clear up first.

Years of rather OTT drinking left no lasting damage either so fingers crossed.

Really bad toothache, I assume you had an abscess, is so unbelievably painful that people do anything to get rid of the pain, my Son had this and he got the pliers and pulled the tooth out himself!!! :yikes: also happened to a neighbour of mine a few years ago and he literally passed out with the pain. Glad you are feeling better now, what a horrible experience though!! :grphg:

There was a move some years back to incorporate the antidote to Paracetamol in the tablets to avoid the problem of people accidentally over-dosing.
Hopefully you will recover fully, otherwise there is no point me saving seeds, now is there?
Having no teeth left, does have its up-side.

Hope their prescription drugs are helping Longk:thumbsup: I haven't come across a painkiller yet that numbs dental pain it's absolutely excruciating :grphg:

The only very slight form of relief I found was sleeping (I say sleeping, impossible) but was to keep sat up..laying down was a killer and not an option...
I thought Gall bladder pain was bad until I got an abscess .:gaah:

The relief when you have that tooth out will be amazing:thumbsup:
