That's not the usual problem with ivy - usually the problem is stopping it growing!

I can't think of anything, to be honest - sounds like one of the many conditions that ivy likes - there's so little it doesn't! Maybe it's too dry? That's about the only thing......

Sometimes ivy can be slow to get going, but once it does it usually takes off like a steam train. As Dendrobium suggests maybe dryness is a problem, especially as it's so little, so maybe watering in dry weather?

Hi. We have 3 small semi-circle troughs on one side of the fence, we've got a flowering perrenial in each of them, but when we planted them last Summer we put small ivy plants in them too, to keep them evergreen over winter. We were disappointed, the ivy didn't grow as rapidly as we expected, but this Spring they've gone ballistic and look great, so my advice is to just be patient [IMG]

I have the same problem. It was a present about 3 years ago and was in one of these gift basket things, anyway it's only grown maybe a few inches in all these years. I planted it out into a big enough tub (actually a recycling tub) and it looks healthy enough, just never really grew.

I wouldnt care but I used an old tree branch for it to climb up thinking it would need it, and thats just been redundant.

Does ivy like shade or sun? Just thinking mine gets sun for most of the day, maybe this is why mine hasn't grown? It isnt in dry soil.
