Hi Anakat. They are not really winter hardy here and have to be potted up and put in the greenhouse when the frosts come. LoL sent me some seed last year and they germinated fine, but I am not to sure how I'm going to deal with them. If you had posted this last week I could have sent you some but I thinned to what I want last weekend and threw the rest. Trouble is they do grow big and as I said I am not sure how I am going to protect them in winter when they get large. Maybe I'll bonsai them.

I kept one growing for a good number of years in a large 15in pot.
They can be hard pruned every autumn before bringing them under cover, the down side is you wont get any flowers if you prune.
They need only frost protection and no more, in fact I lost mine when I built the conservatory, which meant over wintering at a higher temperature.
The plant just wanted to keep on growing instead of resting through the winter, causing poor growth, due to bad light, and not enough space.

It did however flower for a couple of years when I didn't prune it.

The biggest " houseplant " I ever sold in the garden centre. Was a 3m ( that`s 10 ft, Pete ) Jacaranda. I used to just lay it down in a cold greenhouse overwinter and it still flowered the next year. Not quite as tender as people think.:thumb:

Dont think bonsai would suit a jacaranda John, its best atribute is its long leaves of many leaflets, cant think that would bonsai well.:)
