I've long been a fan of Saturday Kitchen with its mix of poncy and hearty food, classic clips (especially the Keith Floyd ones) all held together brilliantly by James Martin. As a classically trained chef he seemed perfectly happy and at ease doing the poncy stuff yet delighted equally in a great Yorkshire pud, old fashioned pies or the simple delight of new potatoes swimming in butter.
His last show today was a classic and also a bundle of laughs but I do wonder if it will survive without him.

Did anyone else watch it and what do you think regarding its future prospects with an alternating cast of presenters?

    Hi Longk,

I watch Saturday Kitchen as well, but I must admit I think it is time for a change of presenter, I think James is great and I love the programmes he does from his own home but I just think it was getting a bit " samey " .

I also think the programmes he did involving Scarborough ( and other ) hospitals were excellent, and make Jamie Oliver's whingeing about school meals seem pathetic.

I don't know how it will work with a different presenter every week, I'd rather have one. There are two I think could do it but I can't remember their names, one is Galton ? from Norfolk, the other is also called James I think and comes from Plymouth.

Galton Blackiston and James Tanner are the two chefs you are recommending Anthony ;)

I watch it every week, loved a lot of his recipes, and his boyish behaviour, it was a very emotional goodbye speech, he and me were in tears.

Respect him as a chef but think he's a terrible presenter. Obviously I'm in the minority if he's been doing it for a decade though!
