Hi Folks, I am currently in hospital following some rather painful surgery earlier today , and I am BLOWN AWAY to have won a place in January's winners. Congratulations to the other winners - they are wonderful photos, and it is an honour to be rated for my little bit of fun.

              :ThankYou:

@Irmemac .....ditto.... (blown away that is - no recent surgery) hope you recover quickly from the surgery.

Thanks all, it is great fun trying to find a suitable subject each month, and an encouraging way to keep trying (for a novice like me)

That may be a lot sooner than you think Tetters. :) As Armandii says it's mostly about having the 'eye' for a shot. When looking through a lens it's a bit like looking at a painting. Don't just look at the subject you have in mind but look at all corners of the viewfinder to spot other things you may or may not want in your shot, study it for a short while particularly with scenery. Don't forget to keep an eye on horizons too, many a picture has been spoilt by a sloping horizon.

Yes, that`s something I started to learn when I tried water colour painting (something I could do at home as a carer)
I bought lots of books to learn from......

Thanks for your well wishes re surgery. I am recovering well, despite this being my second surgery in a month. I am still feeling quite groggy from the anaesthetic but I'm sure some fresh air will blow that away soon enough!

...Well there`s plenty of that (very) fresh air out there at the moment - especially in your neck of the woods.
Hope your recovery is speedy :)
