Japenese Beetle

    hi all just recently in he past week i have noticed large numbers of little bugs on my lawn on closer inspection and a good hunt around on the internet i found out they were Japeneses beetles and they lay eggs under the lawn ont something i paticularly like the sound of that also they seem to be native to america and i havent seen anything about them being in the uk which is a bit of pain because i woyld love to know how to get rid of them as they eat a range of palnts shrubs and in the long term run your grass i was just wondering does anybody else have this problem and has a sloution as anything i have found relates to the us only

    Hi & Welcome to GC alysha... :scratch: Are you sure they are not Chafer beetles..? That is usually what we get in our lawns here in the UK...

    oh my god thankyou very much i do have to say how much they look like the japanese beetle at least now i know what they are and can buy the things to treat them much appreciated :)

    Over here (in the US) these things have no natural insect enemies. So they're tough to get rid of. I've dealt with them myself. You may want to try trapping them, or look into beetle nets. Or you could just plant some garlic. They don't like fragrant plants. I found a site: how to get rid of japanese beetles that may be of some help. Good luck! :)
