    Hello,

Got a jasmine last year and put it in a container against a south-facing wall.

It did OK, not reat though, flowered a little.

Now it looks really forlorn, all the stems are brown etc.

It's not overgrown or anything but does it need to be cut back at all. Or should it just be left? Will the existing 'stems' regrow new foliage?

    so many quistions!!

I'm not a Jasmine expert by any means, but I'm pretty sure Jasmine flowers from the growth of the previous season. Therefore you shouldn't prune it - not yet, anyway. I am willing to be corrected on this, however (still learning! :o).

All the top growth was cut back by the frosts last year but all grew again from the roots. You could try breaking a small branch that has gone brown to see if it's green on the inside. If it is, it might shoot again from the stems:)
